COVID-19: Passport Services

Posted on: July 23, 2020

COVID-19 Passport Processing Update:

If you do not have a genuine emergency that requires travel in the next 5 days, please consider delaying your passport renewal to avoid lengthy processing times. At the moment, as part of Phase One of reopening, the passport agency in Washington DC does not offer any expedited service unless it is a life-or-death emergency, which requires personal appearance.

Please note that these restrictions are temporary and may be lifted at any time. At that point, it is reasonable to expect long processing times, by some estimates up to 6 months.

Once the passport office enters Phase Three of reopening, routine expedited passport processing will be allowed through third parties. Until then, if you need hand-holding oversight in expediting your application, we recommend using our Passport Application Preparation Service.
