Brazil Visa Requirements for U.S. Citizens

Effective April 10, 2025, USA, Canada and Australia passport holders will require a visa to enter Brazil. 

How to Apply for a Visa to Brazil

  • Review the visa requirements below, depending on the type of visa you need (e-Visa, tourist, or business).
  • Gather the required documents and review them to ensure you have everything you need.
  • Send your documents to our office or visit our office in Washington, DC.

E-Visa Requirements
  • TOURIST E-VISA:

    Effective April 10, 2025, USA, Canada and Australia passport holders will require a visa to enter Brazil. 

    Brazil Tourist E-Visa is issued for 10 years or until the passport expiration date and valid for a stay up to 90 days in a calendar year.

      • Professional, High Resolution color copy of the data page of your US Passport bio data page and signature page (page 2 and 3 on your passport).
      • Professional, High Resolution color  passport type photo, taken within 6 months on complete white background without any shadows. Photo should be 2”x 2” with front view, no smiling, and no glasses.
      • Application Form
      • For minors, please also include the following paperwork:
        • A clear, high resolution color copy of both parents’ passport bio/data page.
        • Copy of Minor’s Birth Certificate.
        • Minor travel consent letter, completed and signed by both parents.

     

Tourist Visa Requirements
  • Brazil Tourist Visa Requirements:

    • Submit your signed passport having two (2) completely blank “visa” pages and 6 months validity beyond the travel dates. If you need help securing, renewing, or updating your passport, please contact GenVisa at 800-845-8968 for requirements and fees.
    • One (1) Visa Application Form and Cover Page.
    • Two (2) Professional, High Resolution passport type photo, taken within 6 months on complete white background without any shadows. Photo should be 2”x 2” with front view, no smiling, and no glasses.
    • A photocopy of driver license(s) as proof of residence. Copy must be notarized for residents of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
    • Copy of complete, itemized travel itinerary listing name of the traveler and actual travel dates.
    • For residents of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Bermuda, please fill out additional documents here.
    • For residents of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont, a notarized copy of the most recent bank statement.
    • For residents of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, copies of the three (3) most recent bank statements and a signed, dated letter of intent explaining in detail the purpose of the trip and everything related to it.

    For Minors

    • A person under 18 years of age not traveling with both parents or legal guardian(s) must provide a notarized letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent(s) or guardian authorizing this Consulate to issue a visa. Please call GenVisa at 800-845-8968 for further assistance.

Business Visa Requirements
  • Business Visa Requirements

    This visa category is applicable for business negotiations, sales meetings, and marketing only.

    • Submit your signed passport having two (2) completely blank “visa” pages and 6 months validity beyond the travel dates. If you need help securing, renewing, or updating your passport, please contact GenVisa at 800-845-8968 for requirements and fees.
    • Visa Application Form.

    • Two (2) Professional, High Resolution passport type photos, taken within 6 months on complete white background without any shadows. Photo should be 2”x 2” with front view, no smiling, and no glasses.
    • A photocopy of driver license(s) as proof of residence. Copy must be notarized for residents of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
    • Copy of airline or travel agency itinerary in each traveler’s name.
    • For residents of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont, a copy of the most recent bank statement.
    • For residents of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, copies of the three (3) most recent bank statements and a signed, dated letter of intent explaining in detail the purpose of the trip and everything related to it.
    • A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to: Embassy/Consulate General of Brazil in your jurisdiction.

    The letter must explain all of the following:

      • The purpose of travel
      • Business reference to be visited in Brazil
      • Guarantee financial support for the applicant while in Brazil
      • Return transportation to the U.S.A

  • Add $45.00 per person for expedited service within 60 days
  • Add $75.00 per person for expedited service within 45 days

Please contact us for processing fees and instructions within 30 days (for residents of AK, CA, FL, NY, NJ, OR, PA, PR, USVI, WA within 45 days).

 

Consular Fee:

  • $185.00 per visa

Note: Consular fee above includes a $5 check money order fee.


Optional insurance:
$12.00 per passport:
  • in the unlikely event that your passport is lost or damaged in transit. This will cover your full out of pocket visa(s) and passport replacement costs up to $2,000.

Continental USA Only:

  • $35.00 FedEx Letter (Next Business Day – up to three passports)
  • $24.00 FedEx 2nd Business Day
  • $55.00 FedEx Letter (Saturday Delivery)

Alaska, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands: 

Add $35.00 to the shipping fee chosen above

Notes About Our Brazil Visa & Passport Services

Passport must have at least six (6) months remaining validity and contain two (2) blank visa pages for visa to be issued. GenVisa can assist with obtaining U.S. Passports, whether new issue or renewal.

Special requirements exist for U.S. Official and Diplomatic passport holders.

Send ALL the requirements above (and a check payable to Generations Visa Service) via traceable form of mail to the GenVisa office immediately. GenVisa will hand-carry your application to the Embassy if applicable. Please allow at least 21 business days of processing time.
